Mourning Morning
by Jackie

I fell into sleep,
Weary eyes squeezed shut.
I dreamt about you
And woke up alone.
My body was cold.
Yours was not there.

That single reminder --
The lack of your warmth --
Clenched the heart in my chest.
The imprint of your bracelet,
So neat on my skin,
Brought the memories back:

That suspension of time,
Our stolen week.
Those blissful days
When I knew your touch.
I ache for it now,
So alone in my bed.
